Restoring Ancient Stabiae (RAS)

Restoring Ancient Stabiae (RAS) is a non – profit cultural Italian foundation born to promote the creation of the great archaeological park of ancient Stabiae. The Foundation was formed in Washington DC in 2002, on the initiative of the University of Maryland, as part of a cooperation project in the field of cultural heritage under the aegis of the International Treaty that, in the matter, links USA and Italy.

 The project "Restoring Ancient Stabiae", that has big partners such as the University of Maryland, the Campania Region and the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of  Pompeii, involves the construction of an archaeological park of about 60 acres on the site of the ancient Stabiae, which will return in their original context, environmental and cultural, large and luxurious coastal villas built between the end of the Roman Republic and early Empire, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD and largely still buried.

 The project Restoring Ancient Stabiae is currently the most innovative example of international cooperation in the field of cultural heritage.

 The Foundation bases its activities on the belief that cultural heritage belongs to the whole world, and offers archeology as a unique opportunity of meeting and exchange among different cultures.

 Indeed, one of the most important purpose of the Foundation is to promote the Italian culture in all its aspects, from archaeology to arts, to traditions, to food to other features of Italian heritage, organizing cultural activities of all kinds: exhibitions, conferences, informal educational activities at national and international level.

 Its headquarters is, since 2007, the Vesuvian Institute, a multipurpose complex, which combines the classic hotel facilities with services for research and teaching, such as study rooms, library, auditorium, theater, internet room. The complex - the only example in southern Italy - hosts mainly schools, Italian and foreign universities, cultural groups, scholars and researchers engaged in studies on Italian culture and heritage.

 The Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation is active for more than 10 years in the field of cultural activities: initiatives, projects completed and in progress, and all the achievements are many and transverse. Starting from the basic concept, inspiring the mission of the Foundation (the "archaeological" one), the activities carried out during these years have expanded to reach the field of Culture as prevalent subject of action.

 Concerning the experience relevant for this application, that is the educational field, the Foundation has been organizing since 2010, in service training courses for teachers and staff from pre-primary, primary and secondary education institutions across Europe as part of the former EU Lifelong Learning Programme (Comenius / Grundtvig) and, since 2014, within the Erasmus plus Programme – Key Action 1, Mobility of Individuals.  The courses organizing by RAS concerning all the field of Italian culture (archaeology, history, arts, food, traditions, Italian language).

 In addition, RAS organizes other educational activities involving local and national schools in order to raise awareness among young people respect to the historical and cultural heritage.

Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA)

Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA) as a development entity with a commitment for social development through empowerment was established in the year 1980 by a group of eminent freedom fighters, social workers and social activists and registered under societies Registration Act. 1860 of the Indian Constitution. The organization was established for initiating a movement to promote volunteerism and social action based on ‘Gandhian Philosophy’ of rural development to create a self dependant and sustainable rural society.

The organization has been efficient in its ideology of dedication for eradication of poverty and fortifying the quality of life of poor, destitute and marginalized section of people for the more than last 3 decades. The entire work experience for the past three decades include the areas of action for youth, preservation of the environment, conservation of natural resources, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, entrepreneurship development, enhancement of social integration, combating drought and desertification, access and mobility, community media, and ICT for livelihood promotion etc.

 With having a team of well experienced, dedicated, committed professional development workers involving youth professional volunteers and others, have been successfully progressing in the field of rural community development through research, study, effective planning and implementation to reach the mission of the organization. Youth are key for our organization and we are always open for involving youth groups in our activities, which we have also been giving priority throughout our past experiences.

It has been a trend for the organization and its team to put its best effort towards the initiative it accepts. The availability of expertise within the organization and keenness to learn from ground level realities provides sufficient insight for the organization to implement any project.

CSDS

CSDS was established in 2009 as a legally registered local non-governmental, not-profit organisation. Average employment in organisation reaches 10 people.  CSDS aims to promote education for sustainable development through building the capacity of people and organizations to address development challenges in Vietnam.

We use education and training as the primary means of empowering individuals and organisations to pursue sustainable development. We also focus on volunteering, particularly youth volunteering, as this provides a context for learning and practice, and a resource for delivering our programs and projects. We also work in partnership with international agencies, the CSO community and universities. Over the past 5 years we have worked with over 1,000 youth in Vietnam and helped to developed over 20 youth groups.

In 2010 CSDS in partnership with Italian non-governmental organisation initiated an eco-tourism project on a vulnerable rural area in northeast Vietnam. Project aims to reduce poverty and increase the well-being of the people living in an ethnic minority commune , and to promote environmental sustainability. CSDS promotes cultural tourism and organizes short-term trips for international volunteers.

Pegasus Telematic University

Pegasus Telematic University is a high profile training institution in the field of tourism. It has been established due to the Italian  Ministry of University and Research  decree in 2006.(MIUR,D.M 20/04/2006); An university, that is not only territorial but that is projected to the world, to the global society and to the new competitive job market. Among Pegasus nine degree programs, “Tourism Sciences” bachelor course aims to produce graduates with high skills and appropriate tools to operate in the field of tourism, with specific reference to the enhancement of cultural and sustainable tourism. Particularly, the course aims to transfer knowledge in the area of policy planning for tourism, understood as a factor of economic development and territorial competitiveness.

Inside this pedagocical framework and directly embedded in the Pegasus University  the C.E.LL (Centre for  “Euromediterranean for Lifelong  Learning”) was born. It has been  created to implement the recommendations of the EU and the Italian national law 92/2012 on the labor market which recognizes lifelong learning as an important mission of  the university.  Centre aims to the following objectives:

• Cultural development
• Finalizing  suspended  studies
• Converting   weak degrees
• Improving  professional skills
• Promoting  active citizenship
• Recognizing  lifelong learning as a  right.
• Vocational guidance

In the same time the research activities are orienting to :

• Flexibility and customization of the training
• Verifiability of learning achievements and skills certification
• Attending  the networks and both, national and international projects, including adult education
• Taking up  Research / Actions aimed to the employability
• Interdisciplinary research

Action Synergy

Action Synergy from Greece is an organisation which is expert in the development and implementation of e-learning courses as well as in the creation of synergies between organisations working in various fields. Action Synergy S.A. is an education, training and knowledge based applications organisation which is actively involved in the organization of student and youth mobility, in the development of educational programs for vulnerable target groups, in the development of education technologies, training methodologies and the development of e-learning training courses. Currently, Action Synergy is participating in many transnational European projects as partner or as coordinator. Action Synergy’s S.A. key areas of expertise include: Organisation of mobility actions, Development of links and synergies between various actors in local, regional, national, European and International level, Development of learning methodologies, Development of educational technologies, Development of courses and modules making use of innovative methodologies such as: open/flexible learning methodologies, e-learning, learning needs analysis, development of professional courses. Action Synergy is currently participating as partner in two Capacity Building projects: TBRIDGE and AGRO.

 Therefore, the selection of the partners in the consortium was made bearing in mind the need to build a consortium that will include:

  • Organisations from Partner countries that are active in the field of youth and sustainable development and want to build their capacities in the issues of youth exchanges, youth empowerment and sustainable tourism.
  • Organisations from Europe that are recognized training providers in the field of tourism
  • Organisations from Europe that are experts in the field of alternative cultural tourism
  • Organisations in Europe that are experts in the development and organization of e-learning courses

 The combination of all these factors contributes to the building of a partnership which combines all the skills that are necessary for the implementation of a successful capacity building training programme.
