Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA)

Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA) as a development entity with a commitment for social development through empowerment was established in the year 1980 by a group of eminent freedom fighters, social workers and social activists and registered under societies Registration Act. 1860 of the Indian Constitution. The organization was established for initiating a movement to promote volunteerism and social action based on ‘Gandhian Philosophy’ of rural development to create a self dependant and sustainable rural society.

The organization has been efficient in its ideology of dedication for eradication of poverty and fortifying the quality of life of poor, destitute and marginalized section of people for the more than last 3 decades. The entire work experience for the past three decades include the areas of action for youth, preservation of the environment, conservation of natural resources, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, entrepreneurship development, enhancement of social integration, combating drought and desertification, access and mobility, community media, and ICT for livelihood promotion etc.

 With having a team of well experienced, dedicated, committed professional development workers involving youth professional volunteers and others, have been successfully progressing in the field of rural community development through research, study, effective planning and implementation to reach the mission of the organization. Youth are key for our organization and we are always open for involving youth groups in our activities, which we have also been giving priority throughout our past experiences.

It has been a trend for the organization and its team to put its best effort towards the initiative it accepts. The availability of expertise within the organization and keenness to learn from ground level realities provides sufficient insight for the organization to implement any project.
